Grat & Firn is an independent, unofficial informational guide to the Zugspitze and Garmisch-Partenkirchen area. It is not operated, endorsed, or affiliated with Bayerische Zugspitzbahn, Tiroler Zugspitzbahn, the Deutscher Alpenverein, the town of Garmisch-Partenkirchen, or any hut, lift, gorge, or attraction described on this site. All trademarks and place names belong to their respective owners and are used here descriptively.
Acceptable use
You're welcome to read and share this site for personal trip planning. You may not scrape, republish, or redistribute this site's text or images in bulk, attempt to interfere with its normal operation, or use any automated tool to extract its content for a competing publication.
Content ownership and republishing
The text, layout, and the Ascent Comparison tool on this site are our own original work and are not licensed for republication elsewhere without permission. Short quotations with clear attribution and a link back are fine; wholesale copying of pages is not.
Accuracy disclaimer
Conditions on this site — prices, opening hours, trail and hut availability, seasonal dates, and weather-dependent access — change, sometimes without much notice from the operators themselves. We make a genuine effort to keep facts current and to flag anything that's likely to change, but you should always confirm current details directly with the relevant operator (the lift company, the gorge management, or the specific Alpenverein hut) before you travel, and especially before any multi-day or high-alpine trip like the Reintal hike.
